Travel to Cargèse
The recommended route to IESC is to travel to Ajaccio by plane or boat, and then reach Cargese by the road.
The institute is concerned about the environmental impact of travel associated with the scientific events it hosts. Transportation is the area that mobilizes the most commitment from participants who want to adopt a slightly more eco-friendly mode of travel. The option with the lowest carbon footprint is to:
- take the train to the Mediterranean coast (Marseille or Toulon);
- take the overnight ferry to Ajaccio as a pedestrian, and sharing a cabin;
- upon arrival at the port, take the public transportation (bus) arranged by the institute.
For the return trip, the institute pre-arranges a bus to take you to the port of Ajaccio in the late afternoon to board the overnight ferry to Marseille or Toulon.

Other itineraries, outside Ajaccio, are possible, but please note that public transport in Corsica is not very frequent. Driving through Corsica offers superb scenery, but takes time.
